If you enjoy caring for others and helping people, but want to know more about what health and social care involves this course will give you a good understanding of the health and care environments and develop the skills you needed for a career within this sector. You will be studying:

There will be a work placement opportunity for you to observe and gain experience in a variety of care environments such as day centres, nursing and residential homes and drop-in centres, working with people of various ages with a variety of care needs. Visiting speakers in lessons will include dental health nurses, registered general nurses, support workers and managers, children’s nurses and social workers. You will be assessed by individual and group presentations, case studies, assignments, projects and work-based assessment. On successful completion of this course you may progress to the Level 3 Certificate in Health and Social Care or seek employment in Health and Social Care Services. Please note: you will need a clear DBS enhanced disclosure in order to start the course.

Four GCSE grades 3-1 (D-G) including 3 (D) in English language, or a merit in Level 1 Diploma.

Course may be free for 16-18yrs; for 19-23yrs, course is free if you have not achieved a full Level 2 qualification.

For all other students fees apply:
1st year course fee is £1113; exam fee £87.

Fees and funding

If you are aged 16-18 and applying for a full-time programme, then you will not have to pay for your course. If you are aged 19+ then there may be a fee for your course.
