Course Overview This is an exciting practical course, providing you with direct training for a career in the beauty industry. By the end of the course you will be able to perform a range of facial, nail care and depilatory treatments as well as carry out reception and customer care duties. You will study:

  • Manicure and pedicure including luxury treatments
  • Skin analysis
  • Facial massage
  • Waxing
  • Eye treatments
  • Make-up
  • Customer care and communication

You will enjoy visiting a range of course-related visits to exhibitions and activities designed to keep you up-to-date with developments within the industry. There will also be an opportunity to enter competitions and take part in enrichment activities such as nail art and back massage. As a student here, you will get to work in our realistic working environment, Salon 50, on paying clients, to widen your practical skills and develop your work experience. You will be assessed on all practical units and online examinations. On successful completion of this course, you can consider progression to start a Level 3 Diploma in Beauty Therapy or a Level 3 Diploma in Nail Technology. Alternatively, you will be equipped for employment in the beauty therapy industry working in salons, cosmetic sales or health clubs. This qualification also opens up the opportunity to start a business in beauty therapy.

Either completion of a Certificate or Diploma at Level 1 in Beauty Therapy or one GCSE grade 9-4 (A-C) in English or maths, good communication skills, and a positive attitude to learning a vocational skill or suitable industry experience. You will also be required to attend a skills taster session.

For all adult learners, fees do apply and will be £1,287 plus an exam fee. Student funding advice is available from college to support with this.

Please note that the purchase of kits and uniforms is mandatory. Cost of kits and uniform start at around £200, tutors will give more information at enrolment and give you order forms. Funding from the Learner Support Fund may be available if you are eligible.

Making your application

Fees and funding

If you are aged 16-18 and applying for a full-time programme, then you will not have to pay for your course. If you are aged 19+ then there may be a fee for your course.
