This is an exciting vocational course designed for 16-18 year olds to give you the specialist knowledge for a career working as cabin crew within the airline industry or in the travel industry itself. The team are airline trained and studying on campus you will have full use of the practical equipment area in the main mock cabin and safety demonstration kits.

Course Structure

  • Airline health, safety and security
  • Aircraft emergency situations
  • Dealing with passengers on board an aircraft
  • Cabin service – selling techniques
  • Making passenger announcements on board an aircraft
  • Food service
  • Planning an event
  • Customer Service in travel and tourism
  • Package Holidays

Visits are arranged, including a one-day emergency procedures course with the UK’s leading national airline British Airways, and a visit to Birmingham Airport. Enrichment trips are also an exciting part of the course, including a team building induction trip, the German Xmas Market and end of year trip to a theme park.

You will be assessed on written assignments, role plays, practical assessments and presentations.

Your study programme consists of English and maths GCSE re takes if required, mandatory work experience placement, Personal Development, SOLA and Employability.

After completing this course you could progress to year 2 of the L2 offer. This is an aviation programme, which upon completion of this, you can then apply to work for an airline or in the airport. You also have the opportunity to progress to the Level 3 Certificate and Diploma in Travel and Tourism with a merit profile. Advice on opportunities for further study will be provided during your course.

4 GCSE’s at a minimum grade 3 profile. Grade 3 minimum, is mandatory for English Language.
OR
A relevant Level 1 qualification such as Travel and Tourism with a merit profile.
Successful interview with the Travel team.
Positive school reference.
Written task at enrolment may also be required.

Fees and funding

If you are aged 16-18 and applying for a full-time programme, then you will not have to pay for your course. If you are aged 19+ then there may be a fee for your course.
