What does the qualification cover?

The qualification aims to develop your knowledge of the importance of recording and reporting any incidence of falls to ensure interventions can be put in place to reduce risk and reoccurrence of falls.

Who it is suitable for?

This qualification is designed at anyone working in health or social care environment, particularly those that or have contact with, older people who have an increased risk to falls.

You may wish to access this qualification with a view to progress to further qualifications or employment within health and social care, or to develop within your current job role within health and social care.

How is the qualification structured?

To be awarded the Level 2 Certificate in Falls Prevention Awareness, you are required to successfully complete the mandatory units:

  • The impact and consequences of a fall
  • Risks and hazards which contribute to falls
  • Falls assessment and prevention
  • Managing falls

How is it assessed?

To achieve the Level 2 Certificate in Falls Prevention Awareness, you must successfully demonstrate your achievement of all the learning outcomes and assessment criteria of the units. This is achieved by completing assessments provided in the learning resources. The Level 2 Certificate in Falls Prevention Awareness is internally assessed.

There are no specific recommended prior learning requirements for this qualification. You must be aged 19+ and resided in the EU for the last 3 years in order to access funding.

This course is free of charge*, however, there is a charge of £50 which will be payable if you do not complete the course.

Fees and funding

If you are aged 16-18 and applying for a full-time programme, then you will not have to pay for your course. If you are aged 19+ then there may be a fee for your course.
