Level 1 Performing Engineering Operations

This is an introductory course aimed at you if you want to establish the foundations for a career in engineering. You will acquire basic engineering skills and learn the theoretical background needed for more advanced courses.

You will study:
Practical Machining Skills leading to a Performing Engineering Operations Level 1 Qualification.

You will enjoy a range of course-related visits to machine, tool and CAD/CAM exhibitions as well as leading industrial companies. Talks by guest speakers from local industry will also be organised. A simulated production work experience will take place during the year.

You will have continuous assessment by observation and product manufacture.

On successful completion of this course, you could progress to a Performing Engineering Operations Level 2 a BTEC Extended Certificate Level 2, an apprenticeship or employment.

 

Course may be free for 16-18yrs; for 19-23yrs, course is free if you have not achieved a full Level 2 qualification.

1st year course fee £471; Exam Fee £66.

This course requires three GCSEs grade 3-1 (D-G); or equivalent related qualification, a positive school report and the successful completion of an interview.

Fees and funding

If you are aged 16-18 and applying for a full-time programme, then you will not have to pay for your course. If you are aged 19+ then there may be a fee for your course.
