Level 1 Diploma in Introduction to Hairdressing
This is the ideal introduction to a career in hairdressing. The course is designed to develop specific skills in preparation for entry to Level 2 Hairdressing.
You will be studying key areas, including:
- Shampooing, plaiting and twisting
- Blow drying and styling
- Assisting in colour removal
- Reception skills
- Assisting stylists and introduction to a cutting programme
As part of this study programme you will work towards English and maths. This will provide you with the skills needed to perform confidently, effectively and independently in learning, life and work.
You will enjoy a range of course-related visits to exhibitions and activities designed to keep you up-to-date with developments within the industry. Work experience is an essential part of this study programme.
You will be assessed via ongoing practical assessments, online exams and assignments.
On successful completion of this course, most learners progress to Level 2 Hairdressing. Alternatively they may seek employment in salons or apprenticeship.
One GCSE in English or maths grade 3-1 (D-G), a successful interview and a positive attitude to learning a vocational skill. You will be required to attend a taster session.
Making your application
We will check your application to see if you meet the standard entry requirements for the course. If you do, you’ll receive an invitation via email to attend an interview with a Curriculum Tutor.
Fees and funding
If you are aged 16-18 and applying for a full-time programme, then you will not have to pay for your course. If you are aged 19+ then there may be a fee for your course.
From entry-level qualifications, through to degree-level and specialist professional courses there’s something here for students with little or no formal education right up to career high-flyers. Expect a vibrant environment where you can meet people from different backgrounds and cultures.
