Ideal for those who may encounter electric or hybrid vehicles in their work environment, such as body shop technicians, auto glazing technicians, vehicle fast-fit technicians, sales staff, cleaners/valeters, or vehicle fitters.
This course focuses on safe working practices and understanding the hazards associated with electric vehicles, along with precautions to avoid potential injuries
Level 2
This course provides essential training for those aiming to ensure safety and competence in the maintenance of electric and hybrid vehicles.
Suitable for professionals involved in the maintenance of electric and hybrid vehicles, focusing on safe isolation and re-energisation procedures.
Covers the competence and knowledge required to isolate and re-energise an electric vehicle, emphasizing safe working practices and understanding the associated hazards.
Assessment Methods
Level 1: Evaluation is conducted through an online multiple-choice test.
Level 2: Evaluation is conducted through an online multiple-choice test and a practical assessment.
Qualifications
Level 1 Award in Introduction to Electric and Hybrid Vehicle High Energy Systems
Level 2 Award in Safe Maintenance of Electric and Hybrid Vehicles
Progression Opportunities
Upon successful completion, learners can advance to qualifications such as the Level 2 Award in Hazard Management of Electric and Hybrid Vehicles (7290-72) or the Level 3 Award in Component Removal and Replacement in Electric and Hybrid Vehicles (7290-03).
There are no formal prerequisites for enrolling in this course.
Must be over the age of 19 on 31 August 2025 to be eligible for this programme
The qualifications are fully funded for unemployed or low waged (£25,750 DfE) (£34,194 WMCA)
