Level 3 National Extended Diploma in Uniformed Protective Services
This qualification is designed as a full-time, two-year programme of study for learners who want to focus on the uniformed protective services sector, with the aim of progressing to higher education to a related degree course.
Mandatory units of study include:
- Citizenship and Diversity (externally examined)
- Behaviour and Discipline in the Uniformed Protective Services
- Global Affairs, the Media and the Uniformed Protective Services
- Physical Preparation, Health and Wellbeing
- Teamwork, Leadership and Communication in the Uniformed Protective Services
- Government and the Protective Services
- Planning for and Responding to Emergency Incidents
Learners will also have the opportunity to undertake some work experience with either uniformed public services or uniformed and non-uniformed public services and also enjoy a range of outdoor activities such as abseiling, canoeing and rock climbing during a 5 day residential at an outdoor pursuit centre.
At least 4 GCSEs at Grade 4 or above including English and/or maths
Level 2 qualification at Merit or above plus English/maths at Grade 4 or equivalent
Learners with lower grades or relevant experience will be considered subject to additional advice and guidance from a member of the curriculum team.
This course is free for 16-18yrs; for 19-23yrs, course is free if you have not achieved a full Level 2 qualification.

We will check your application to see if you meet the standard entry requirements for the course. If you do, you’ll receive an invitation via email to attend an interview with a Curriculum Tutor.
Fees and funding
If you are aged 16-18 and applying for a full-time programme, then you will not have to pay for your course. If you are aged 19+ then there may be a fee for your course.
From entry-level qualifications, through to degree-level and specialist professional courses there’s something here for students with little or no formal education right up to career high-flyers. Expect a vibrant environment where you can meet people from different backgrounds and cultures.
