Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) across Coventry and Warwickshire are being given fresh opportunities to innovate and grow this autumn, thanks to the Innovate UK Further Education Investment Fund (FEIF) programme led by four partner colleges.

Between September and November 2025, Coventry College, North Warwickshire & South Leicestershire College (NWSLC), Stratford-upon-Avon College, and WCG (Warwickshire College Group) will host a series of events and innovation clinics designed to help SMEs embrace green and digital technologies.

From live demonstrations of vehicle system repair and compliance at Rugby College (part of WCG), to business innovation clinics on leadership, AI, and digital marketing, the programme provides practical, hands-on support to accelerate the region’s progress towards a net zero economy.

The programme builds on the successful launch earlier this year, which introduced a structured journey for SMEs: needs analysis, innovation planning, and knowledge transfer. Each event in this next phase brings that journey to life – offering direct access to expert practitioners, cutting-edge facilities, and tailored advice that helps businesses tackle challenges, develop new products, and drive efficiency.

“This is about giving SMEs the confidence and the tools to innovate with purpose,”

said Matt Alvarez, Consortium Project Manager for WCG. “Whether it’s exploring digital tools, making workshops more sustainable, or developing new services, we’re creating a space where businesses can connect, learn, and take action.”

Gemma Knott, Coventry College Vice Principal stated, “I am delighted to lead on the Coventry and Warwickshire Innovate UK programme which is connecting our brilliant further education colleges with SMEs to support them with innovation leading to growth. We are working closely with The University of Warwick to continue to develop innovation leadership training to equip ambitious business leaders and their staff with the toolkits needed to innovate in this global economy. I am proud of the ever evolving work of further education colleges who are the bedrocks of their regional economies.”
