Elliot Jones
Elliot Jones is a shining example of what can be achieved with passion, determination, and the right environment to nurture talent.

Life After Coventry College
After completing the BTEC National Extended Diploma in Performing Arts (Musical Theatre), Elliot hit the ground running. His first professional opportunity came in the form of a UK tour of the pantomime Aladdin, where he took on the title role—a dream start to his performing arts career. Following this, he spent a year at Performers College, an experience that helped him realise his true aspirations and led him to pursue a BA Hons in Acting and Performance at London South Bank University (LSBU).
Now in his final year at LSBU, Elliot has fully immersed himself in both his studies and the performing arts industry. He juggles multiple roles, including working as a theatre reviewer for West End Productions, an entertainer at Hamleys, and a Musical Director for Spamalot with University College London (UCL). He also leads a music community at LSBU, organising annual concerts, and regularly performs at gigs, demonstrating his versatility, drive, and passion for the arts.
Why Coventry College?
Elliot’s decision to study at Coventry College was influenced by its central location, which allowed easy access to local theatres like The Belgrade and Albany. However, it was the experienced staff that truly sealed the deal.
“All staff members were working professionals before teaching, which really excited me,” Elliot recalls. “I could learn from their experiences on how to navigate the world of performing arts.”
Highlights of the Programme
Work Experience: During his time at Coventry College, Elliot worked with industry professionals, gaining invaluable insights. He even secured professional contracts while still a student, marking a major milestone in his career.
We Will Rock You: In his second year, Elliot served as the Assistant Musical Director for the college’s full-scale production of We Will Rock You. This role gave him the chance to teach harmonies, produce live backing vocals, and tackle a challenging acting role. It was a standout moment in his journey, made even more special when his secondary school teachers came to watch the show.
Support from Staff
Elliot is quick to credit the staff at Coventry College for their unwavering support, particularly Becky, who played a pivotal role in his academic and personal development.
“I struggled with academic writing and worried it would affect my grades,” he admits. “But Becky put support in place, which allowed me to submit work in other ways. I ended up getting the highest grade possible.”
Even after leaving college, Becky continues to be a source of encouragement, sharing opportunities and cheering him on in his successes. “She’s always letting me know what projects the college is doing and sending performing gigs that would suit me,” says Elliot.
Advice for Future Students
Elliot encourages anyone considering Coventry College to take the leap. “Go do it! If you truly love performing, then take the course. Try to enjoy every moment because it’ll go so quickly,” he advises. He also reassures students who may feel uncertain about their next steps. “Don’t be scared if you don’t know whether you want to go to uni or get an agent. Everything happens for a reason.”
His final piece of advice? “Just be you. There’s no one else like you in the industry. Don’t fall victim to comparison.”
