Cynthia Otim, a former student at Coventry College, embarked on a transformative journey through the Art and Design programme, leaving an indelible mark through her creative endeavours.

Cynthia enrolled in the BTEC Level 3 Art and Design programme at Coventry College with a passion for artistic expression and a desire to explore her creative potential. Guided by dedicated instructors and immersed in a vibrant artistic community, Cynthia found herself inspired by the programme’s dynamic curriculum.
As part of her studies, Cynthia participated in a unique project centred around designing greeting cards for Remembrance Sunday. Tasked with capturing the essence of the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal, Cynthia and her peers utilised the Relief Method printing technique to craft intricate poppy-themed designs. Their goal was to create versatile cards suitable for various occasions while honouring the solemn significance of Remembrance Sunday.
Under the guidance of Laura Johnson, Programme Manager for Creative and Performing Arts, and Simon Gee, Programme Organiser for Level 3 Art and Design, Cynthia and her classmates delivered exceptional designs that garnered praise from both peers and staff. Their creations, adorned with poignant poppy motifs, served as poignant tributes to the sacrifices made during the First World War.
Reflecting on her experience, Cynthia shared her profound appreciation for the project, describing it as an opportunity to blend creativity with reverence.
This project in particular was an enjoyable one because we were able to use our creativity to pay respect to those who had lost their lives in the First World War. I think everyone really stepped up and got a beautiful design together, we are all very proud of what we have achieved.
