Connor is currently working in the retail sector while continuing to perform and build connections with brands, venues and promotional companies to help grow his professional network and reputation in the music industry.

Connor Blundell studied a Level 3 Extended Diploma in Art and Design (Graphic Design) at Coventry College. After completing his programme, Connor secured work experience at Tin Angel Records as a Graphic Designer. But his time there expanded beyond design and moved rather quickly. He signed a five-year artist development contract with the label, releasing his first music single. Connor performed as a backing vocalist, session guitarist, and performer for various artists under the label. He also gained valuable experience in promotional work, collaborating with different clients and brands.
Connor is currently working in the retail sector while continuing to perform as Duke Keates and build connections with brands, venues and promotional companies to help grow his professional network and reputation in the music industry. He’s recently performed at Coventry’s MotoFest and Godiva Festival.
Choosing Coventry College
Connor chose Coventry College because it perfectly aligned with his educational aspirations. His decision was influenced by positive experiences shared by friends and siblings who had previously studied there. The facilities, combined with a strong sense of community made Coventry College an ideal choice for him.
During his time at college Connor learned valuable industry skills from his lecturers, Simon Gee and Jill Waterfield, whose teaching methods and attitudes continue to influence his work. Connor said the College provided him with “an excellent environment for self-expression and professional growth” and “numerous opportunities to develop identity, style, aesthetic, and work ethic” during a transformative stage of his life.
Connor said, “The staff at Coventry College were supportive, providing detailed feedback and fostering a critical yet enjoyable learning environment. They demonstrated a genuine passion for their subjects and offered personalised guidance” something which helped Connor realise his future career prospects and pushed him in the right direction.
Connor valued the sense of community at Coventry College, describing it as a “rich and diverse melting pot of cultures, professions, and sensibilities.”
Finding your passion
Since leaving Coventry College, Connor has successfully integrated his graphic design skills into his music career, focusing on music marketing and personal branding. He has created art, mood boards, logos, videos, and delved into illustration and animation – specifically working on marketing materials and album covers for globally sold records.
Connor has performed live at numerous events and venues as Duke Keates, supporting acts like Her’s, Penelope Isles, Kansas Smitty’s, FEET, and Marker Starling – even touring Germany as a backing vocalist and session guitarist. His performances include multiple live BBC radio shows and collaborations with notable artists like Laetitia Sadier of Stereolab.
Connor also worked with the UK fashion brand Charles Jeffrey Loverboy Autumn/Winter 2021 collection film Gloom.
In 2022 Connor was recognised by BBC Introducing Coventry and Warwickshire and in 2023 was Pete Chambers OBE Best Local Artist by the Coventry Observer.
Connor encourages anyone considering Coventry College to take the leap without hesitation.
