Oliver Barnacle finalist at the Coventry & Warwickshire Apprentice of the Year Awards 2017
Oliver Barnacle was nominated as finalist at the Coventry & Warwickshire Apprentice of the Year Awards 2017.
Oliver has his apprenticeship with Colin Dunphy Hairdressers in Coventry. Oliver is 17 years old and is on his second years of his Hairdressing Level 2 Apprenticeship.
Oliver is a true people person who remembers not only attention to details but also customers by name and things that they have told him in past conversations. He works well within the team and also is able to remind his own manager to do things.
Oliver intends to progress onto the Hairdressing Level 3 Apprenticeship next year and also be part of future competitions.
Coventry College Hairdressing Assessor, Sarah Ogden nominated Oliver for the award.
Sarah says “Oliver has an abundance of passion for the hairdressing industry his attendance and commitment to his apprenticeship is outstanding and he is always discussing new products and techniques. Oliver has a bright future ahead of him as he continues to perform and work hard at work and at college. Oliver is very talented and has a good understanding of practical tasks always listening to feedback and advice which will help him develop his hairdressing skills. Oliver’s passion and drive will see him go far in his career and he deserves recognition in the form of Apprentice of the year.
Colin Dunphy, owner of the salon has taken on Apprentices with Coventry College and previously Henley College some of the apprentices are now fully qualified stylists and are still working for him.
Colin is extremely enthusiastic about the progression of both Oliver and Olivia and want to encourage them in their development and even with competitions. Colin says “the progression of both apprentices has been excellent, their skills are fantastic and I would be lost without them”.
Colin took on another Apprentice in September, Olivia Golos. Olivia is 16 years old and has been on her Hairdressing Level 2 Apprenticeship since September this year. She has settled in really well and has already become a great member of the team and her progression has been excellent.
