Urban Food Market at Henley
Coventry College’s Henley Campus hosted a Street Food Market event, where students ran stalls and served a variety of food to staff and students. The purpose the event was to develop the learner’s understanding of running their own small business. This was a great assessment opportunity for both their food and their supervisory skills.
The event was a cross college opportunity, life skills students hosted stalls and performing arts student gave a performed dance routines, giving a real street market ambiance to the event.
Major Stocks kindly supported the event, providing the College with gazebos and supplying all the flavourings/stocks to enhance the quality of the food.
Neil Thrift from Major Stocks said, “The event was very popular; students, staff and visitors came from all over the campus to try the food and there was an excitement in the air. The food was full of flavour and it was testament to the college to be able to be able to be served a full meal planned and prepared by student to students.”
College Principal and CEO Peter Brammall couldn’t resist the temptation of tasting some of the wonderful food. “It was fantastic to see the buzz created at the Street Food Festival. Such an amazing range of cuisine on display, all selected, developed and delivered by our fantastic students – and some of the smells and flavours filling the atrium were truly exquisite!”
“Not only did it provide a great opportunity to bring staff and students together from both campuses, the range of Street Food stalls provided a real showcase of the talent, professional organisation and creativity of our catering and hospitality faculty and is a real testament to the expert guidance provided by our amazing staff.”
