Arrival Information

Coventry College has two Campuses:-

City Campus: which is based in the City Centre

Henley Campus: which is situated about 10 minutes by bus to the North East of Coventry City Centre.

The EFL courses are currently taught at the Henley Campus in a pleasant residential area.

So please come to the Henley Campus at 9am on the first day of your course for enrolment and testing and don’t forget your passport.

The Henley Campus is just 15 minutes from Birmingham International Airport by taxi, so we recommend flying to this airport if at all possible. If Birmingham is not possible then Henley Campus is about 1 hour and 15mins from Heathrow Airport in London by coach.

Here are some helpful tips for how to reach us

Travelling from Birmingham Airport

The best option from Birmingham Airport is by taxi to Coventry. This will take about 30 minutes and will cost between £30.00 and £40.00. We recommend that you take a black taxi to your host family’s house.

The second option is to take a train to Coventry station.

Follow the train symbols out of the airport, where a free bus will take you on a very short journey to Birmingham International Airport train station. The trains to Coventry are very frequent. The journey time is about 10 minutes, with the cost of a one-way ticket about £1.50.

When you arrive at Coventry Train Station you will require a taxi to your Host Accommodation costing about £10.00

From Birmingham Airport to Coventry by Bus

Take a 900 bus from the airport going to Pool Meadow Bus Station in Coventry — see the Network West Midlands website for the timetable. (http://www.networkwestmidlands.com/Bus/BusTimetable.aspx)

This will take about 40 minutes and will cost about £4.00.
We then recommend that you take a black taxi from the Coventry Bus Station to your host family’s house. This will cost between £10.00 and £15.00.

Travelling from Heathrow Airport or Gatwick Airport

You can travel by train to Coventry from either of these airports, but this requires a train into London first, so we don’t recommend this route particularly with all of your bags.

The easiest and cheapest way is to take the National Express Coach service from either of the airports to Coventry from either of the Airport Bus Terminals.

When you arrive in Coventry at the Pool Meadow Bus Station, we recommend that you take a black taxi to your host family’s house. This taxi journey will cost between £10.00 and £15.00.

Heathrow to Coventry by Coach

There is a National Express information desk in the Arrivals Hall of Terminal 4 and in the coach park outside Terminal 3. The coaches stop outside both of these terminals. For Terminals 1 and 2, follow the National Express signs for the Central Bus Station. The journey to Pool Meadow bus station in Coventry takes about 2 hours and 20 minutes and costs about £35.00 for a single, one-way ticket.

To look at coach times or even buy a ticket in advance, try the National Express (http://www.nationalexpress.com/coach/index.cfm) website, which contains information about all National Express coach services.

Heathrow to Coventry by Train  – Coventry train station

If you cannot get a coach, at Heathrow follow the London Underground signs and take one of the frequent underground trains (Piccadilly Line) to Kings Cross/St. Pancras underground station. Change trains and travel via the Northern or Victoria Line to Euston, the British Rail main line station. The journey time is about 40 minutes.
Then travel by train to Coventry. Trains run approximately every 30 minutes from Euston and the journey time is about 1 hour. You should allow approximately £70.00 for the cost of underground and rail fares.
To look at train times or even buy a ticket in advance, try the Virgin trains (http://www.virgintrains.co.uk/) website, which contains information about these services.

Gatwick to Coventry by Coach

There is a National Express information desk in the Arrivals Hall opposite the exit from Customs. The National Express coach service departs from the lower level outside the terminals at Gatwick (look out for the National Express signs) to Pool Meadow bus station. The journey time is about 3 hours 15 minutes and costs approximately £40 for a single, one-way ticket.

To look at coach times or even buy a ticket in advance, try the National Express (http://www.nationalexpress.com/coach/index.cfm) website, which contains information about all National Express coach services.

Gatwick to Coventry by Train

Travel by the Gatwick Express (http://www.gatwickexpress.com/) from Gatwick Airport station to Victoria main line station. Four trains an hour leave Gatwick during the day and one per hour at night, the journey taking about 30 minutes. At Victoria follow the London Underground signs and take the underground (Victoria Line) to Euston, the British Rail main line station.
Then travel by train to Coventry. Trains run approximately every 30 minutes from Euston and the journey time is about 1 hour. You should allow approximately £85.00 for the cost of underground and rail fares.
To look at train times between London Euston and Coventry or even to buy a ticket in advance, try the Virgin trains (http://www.virgintrains.co.uk/) website, which contains information about these services. You should allow approximately £80.00 for the cost of rail and underground fares.

London Midland offer much cheaper train fares from Euston to Coventry, but these will usually take about 1hr 40 minutes.

We recommend Flying to Birmingham Airport and taking a taxi to your Hosts accommodation or Booking a flight into Heathrow Airport and taking the Coach to Coventry. If you are travelling from Europe then it is possible to fly very cheaply into Luton Airport and take the coach from directly outside the airport terminal to Coventry ‘Pool Meadow’ Bus Station.
